A week ago I turned on my radio as I usually do, to listen to Glenn Beck as I get ready for work. A cheerful woman was speaking and she didn’t say she was “sitting in” for Glenn Beck. I kept listening to see if she would explain why she was on instead of Glenn. There was no explanation but when Rick Santorum was interviewed via phone on the show and he congratulated her on her new show, I knew she was replacing Glenn altogether. I wondered why. Glenn is the third highest rated radio program nation wide. Rush Limbaugh is first, Hannity is second. Los Angeles is the biggest market in the country and Glenn was the highest rated show on KRLA, so why would they drop him? And without warning or explanation?
I called KRLA and asked for an explanation. I was told it was a “programing decision” and they hoped I’d give Heidi Harris a chance. I told them I would not. I e-mailed the owners and manager of the station and asked for an explanation. I told them if they had been pressured or threatened they should tell us because we could help. I had a back and forth conversation with them for two days. They insisted they were not pressured, that this was simply a “programing decision”. I told them I found that hard to believe. Having worked in the Entertainment Industry for more than 30 years, I have never been in a meeting with producers where they wanted to replace their highest rated show for no reason.
I won’t be listening to Heidi Harris, in fact, although I like the rest of the lineup on KRLA, I won’t be listening to KRLA at all. Hopefully the rest of their lineup will find homes at other stations. I can no longer sit silently as Conservative speech is silenced. And what message does this send the other Conservative hosts on KRLA? Will they fear being dropped if they are as honest as Glenn? I like many Conservative hosts but the most honest and fearless are being targeted and it’s becoming harder to hear them. I am a member of GBTV but I pay for it and many people can’t afford that. Glenn is on Sirius radio the same time he WAS on KRLA so I looked into it but I would have to buy a Sirius radio and it would cost about $30.00 a month on top of that. This obviously limits how many people have access to Glenn’s shows in Los Angeles. It also limits how many new listeners as people can’t hear him unless they go out of their way.
In my research to find out why Glenn was dropped, I found a petition asking people to sign to get the “Hateful” Glenn Beck off the air. I have heard Liberals call Glenn “hateful” many times as well as that he lies. I always ask very respectfully for an example and they can never give one but they are willing to believe that he is a hateful liar. There have been a few examples of Glenn being mistaken and he quickly admitted it and explained why he was mistaken, but I’m not aware of him “lying” about anything. He normally has video or some other proof of what he says and ALWAYS tells his listeners NOT to believe him but to do their own research. I have yet to hear a Liberal ask anyone not to take their word for something, let alone research it for yourself.
I went to Glenn’s 8/28 last summer in DC. I sat on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial because I wanted to be able to see all the people. The event was called, “Restoring Honor” and was nothing but inspiring people and stories. It was a call for all of us to be the best we can be. To be responsible and caring. We pledged our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor to each other. We pledged allegiance to the flag, we sang the Star Spangled Banner and we prayed together. It was the most friendly, most polite crowd I’ve ever seen. Although the crowds were shoulder to shoulder, not an inch between, there was no pushing, no annoyed words. People smiled and hugged and broke into conversation with strangers.
In response to “Restoring Honor”, the left through Jon Stewart and Colbert had a rally of their own called, “Restoring Sanity”. Restoring Sanity? …….Sanity? When did honor become insane? When did asking people to be the best they can be become insane? So it is now insane to suggest morality, honor, personal responsibility are good things?
What is insane is that most “celebrities” these days are pushing for irresponsibility. The “Restoring Sanity” rally was sponsored and supported by the Socialist Party and the Communist Party, CAIR and most unions. The crowd was a fraction of Glenn’s and carried signs that demanded the rest of us support them. What is insane is thinking the government can determine your life better than you can. What is insane is supporting law breaking and lawbreakers. The left wants no one held responsible for their choices or behavior. To the left everything is relative. If someone broke the law, they couldn’t help it. Everyone is just a victim of circumstances. And because Conservatives believe that there are consequences for behavior and people should be held to those consequences we’re called “extremists” and “terrorists”.
Conservatives believe in God, country, the rule of law and that we are responsible for our destiny. That’s called extreme? We know we can take care of ourselves because we have been our entire lives. We know everyone else (unless severely mentally handicapped) is capable of taking care of themselves too. Unlike Liberals we don’t think minorities are incapable. We know they’re not. We don’t put people in hyphenated groups and tell them they’re victims that can’t possibly succeed without our help. We know they can. We believe in people, ourselves and this country.
But our voices are being silenced. The left is working feverishly behind the scenes to make sure our spokespeople are reaching fewer and fewer people. They got Glenn off FOX and now dropped from radio in the biggest market in the country. Why? Conservatives don’t try to silence Liberals. We understand how vital fee speech is to our Liberty. But the left is always trying to silence the right. Why? If we are lying, prove it. Shouldn’t be hard because the truth is always the truth. As Glenn says, “The truth has no agenda”. But they know we aren’t lying and they can’t afford to have the truth told.
