UTOPIAN PIE IN THE SKY

The Left has this Utopian dream for us. Although it has been tried time and time again and always failed, they refuse to let it go. We will all live blissfully with all our needs taken care of by a benevolent government. All those who want a job will have a job plus a nice place to live and healthcare insurance and college, all paid for by someone else. With all our needs taken care of , there will be no reason for war, and we all will live happily ever after.

The only problem with Utopia is human nature…..and money. Has the Left considered that not everyone wants the same things? What would make one person blissfully happy might make someone else miserable. Some love living in an apartment and taking public transportation, others love gardening in their yard, swimming in their own pool and having lots of pets. Some love open space and their nearest neighbor at least two miles away. Others live to hunt, or camp, or climb mountains, or explore caves. The United Nations Agenda 21 Utopian plan (that we signed and have been moving toward for the last 20 years) calls for all people to live in apartment buildings along transportation corridors. Private ownership of property is considered unfair, because not everyone can afford to own a home. And, since owning property is the greatest source of wealth, the government will take over all property and provide you with a place to live. There will be no privately owned cars and we will all use public transportation. We will live and work in the same neighborhood just like China. Are you feeling blissful yet?

Of course, the Left thinks Utopia hasn’t worked before because their guy wasn’t in charge. But now he is, so let’s look at the Left’s idea of Utopia, because since their guy was elected, they’ve been showing us what they want. There will be no discrimination, because they are passing laws against “hate speech”. If speaking of your concerns about a lifestyle or choice is considered “hate speech”, we won’t be doing that. San Antonio passed a law against any city employee or anyone contracting with the city, having any anti-gay opinions. That wouldn’t be considered censorship, would it? They will control what you eat ~for your own good, of course. No salt, no sugar, no soda’s, no “junk food”. They will make everything “fair”~at least their idea of fair. They want income equality. Those who have worked hard and played by the rules need to have their income redistributed to those who dropped out of school and sat on their lazy asses. Ah, yes, that is fair.

They don’t want anyone to feel shame or be “judged”, so there will be no public disapproval of…….well, anything. No moral compass to guide us. In the name of separation of church and state there will be no religious, symbols, sayings, quotes, or songs ever in public. Ever. No religious holidays either. Those might offend someone. That is another thing that will be outlawed: no one will be allowed to offend anyone else, even if that was not the intent. They have been wanting to bring back the “fairness doctrine” that would shut down talk radio, as it did in the past. If we are to have Utopia, we can’t have opposing opinions, can we?

But we will have free education from pre-school through college, free birth control, free healthcare. But, hmm, let me ask. If the government is going to provide a place to live, food, healthcare, public transportation, etc. to everyone, whether they work or not, why would anyone work? I think that is what Greece is facing right now.

In the Left’s Utopia, they will defend a woman’s right to choose….to kill her baby up to and including the date of birth…..but if she chooses to keep her baby, they deny her the right to choose the school to which to this child must go. While claiming to be the champions of choice, they deny us the choice of which light bulb to use. They mandate a “low flow” toilet that you have to flush three times. They mandate these lovely new washing machines that stink because they don’t use enough water to rinse out the dirt. Funny, I had a washing machine for 20 years that never stunk.

In Utopia, our children will be educated according to Common Core, which will teach them how to be good little socialist citizens of the world. As Michelle Obama said, “…we are going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we are going to have to change our traditions; our history; we are going to have to move into a different place as a nation.” The Left has been changing our history books for many years, but in Utopia history will be changed completely, to support the Left’s agenda. Can’t have children knowing what our country was founded on, or why. Data will be collected on our children, and their lives will be guided by the government, not parents. After all, the Left has already told us our children don’t belong to us ~ they belong to the collective. I wonder what would have happened to Dr. Ben Carson if his future had been planned by government by the time he was seven.

Are you feeling blissful yet? All our needs met, no discrimination, no one offended, no messy disagreements. May I ask, who are these “angels” who are going to decide what is best for us? Will their decisions be based on what is truly best for us, or on their own desire to control what we do? After all, their blueprint for Utopia is Agenda 21. For all intents and purposes, it puts us in “human habitats” and gives animals free reign of the land. Is it really best for us to have our use of energy restricted? What does that do to the economy? Remember Obama said, “We can’t drive our SUV’s and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times…..and then just expect [that] other countries are going to say OK”.

Utopia has never worked, and it never will. There isn’t enough money for it to work, and in spite of what the “elites” think, people would not be better off or happier. In spite of what they think, they aren’t any smarter than we are. They don’t know better than us how we want to live our lives. Look at some examples of Utopia, the USSR, Nazi Germany, Cuba, to name a few. The “elites” lived lavishly, while everyone else lived in poverty…..and those who opposed the government, died. Do you think an American Utopia would be different? Look at how Obama lives. He thinks nothing of sending Air Force One to pick up his dog. He and Michelle take separate planes on lavish trips paid for by taxpayers. Look at how rich our representatives become after getting elected. Look at Al Gore, living in a house that uses more electricity than the average city, being chauffeured around in a limousine, flying his private plane around the world telling us we have to live with less.

The Utopia the Left dreams of is for us, not them. They will control jobs, the economy, banks, schools, and entertainment. They will decide how we live, where we live, what we eat, and what we learn. They will deny the rest of us any chance of improving our lives, and will keep us from living as they do. Feeling blissful now?

Excellent column: The unintended consequences of NOT learning from history. I think the low information, parasites and closet (and openly) racist voters are going to have an epiphany with the arrogance and outright fabrications of the Left this time around. The elitist Left has overstepped its bounds–and the elitist right (Rove and Company) are going to find themselves out of work, too.

Thank you. It is mind numbing more people don’t understand what is happening. I do think enough of us DO know and I think Rove and Company WILL be out of work in the near future.

The GOP depends on robotic non-thinkers and not problem solvers for its team. It continues to dumb its team down and has no bench. Think about it. All of these pledges and scoring will end up with a collection of personality and skill types willing to operate under these circumstances. Actual skill in problem solving is not required you just have to be a good political evangelist.

What lies at the diseased heart of this conflict is the fundamental fact that the conservative ideas behind the right’s ascendance–and dominance in the public square for the last thirty years have been tried–and either failed to deliver or failed to persuade a majority of Americans.

So what the Republican Party is left to work with is an intellectually bankrupt and incoherent program, festooned with Frank Luntz-generated buzzwords and phrases (“Obamacare is a trainwreck” and “Repeal and replace” and “Commonsense solutions”) plastered all of effort–little semantic bandaids slapped on to mask either the party’s real intent or lack of any idea that can muster public support outside the tent of true believers.

Inside the tent, the sermons all center on the notion that those ideas have NOT failed–because in the alternate reality at work in the conservative circus–those ideas have NOT really been tried–with the parallel trope that they haven’t been tried because impure elements (RHINOs) have sabotaged the efforts.

And through it all, the amen chorus (a.k.a. the right wing noise machine) is singing ever louder hymns of fear and foreboding.

Meanwhile, outside–in the real world, the political pendulum is–as always happens–slowly swinging back in the other direction.

As Albert Einstein once observed: “Politics is a pendulum whose swings between anarchy and tyranny are fueled by perpetually rejuvenated illusions.”

At the end of the day who gets elected is less important than what actually gets done. The most troubling aspect of the Republican schism is the utter lack of a plan to govern from the radical right. What exactly is the platform? No government? Anarchy? No taxes? No health care for 40 million people? Let’s get real. There are 350 million people living in a complex society with robust economic competition that we are losing. This actually calls for plans and goals. How do we rebuild our industrial base? How do we better educate our workers? How do we keep the environment clean but also encourage business growth? The solutions call for vision, ideas new technology, investment in infrastructure. All I see is is the desire for roll back and fervent belief in some imaginary past of no regulation, no taxes and robber barons running the show for the serfs.

I see no substance behind the “outrage” of the Tea Party – rather a tempest in a Tea Pot. The Tea Party has very effectively brainwashed Americans into thinking government is bad and out of control.

Debt/deficit. Yearly deficits have risen dramatically during the Bush and Obama years. Why? Because taxes were cut substantially, we had two unfunded wars, spiraling medical costs, and then the most disastrous financial crisis in 80 years. We needed massive government spending during the last 5 years: even more in my opinion. The pity is the previous 5 trillion in debt by Bush was avoidable. What if Bush had left Obama with no cumulative debt and a yearly surplus instead?? We spiked at ~120% of debt to GDP after WWII. We can manage this “crisis” as well. We have the largest, most robust economy in the world.

Bring revenue back up to reasonable levels, make small changes to SS for sustainability, and get serious about regulating our overpriced, out-of-control health care industry. We also spend more on “defense” than the next 15 countries combined.

Less government? No, we should extol the virtues of government, which very effectively acts to preserve order, equality, justice, health, defense, our natural resources, combats hunger and disease,. etc., etc. We have a mid-20th century infrastructure, 1 in 5 children go hungry, an educational system that is failing from the bottom up, and inadequate social services that burdens poThe GOP depends on robotic non-thinkers and not problem solvers for its team. Let’s think FORWARD.

or & middle class families. Let’s think FORWARD.

    • What absolute rubbish. America became the most prosperous country in the world because of our Constitution, free markets and personal liberty NOT Liberal socialism. It has been the Liberal social engineering, crony capitalism & crushing regulations that have killed our economy and will continue to do so.

Why don’t cities have any money? Look at the growth in social programs and government salaries, benefits and pensions. Those are NOT Republican policies.

Republicans DO have plans and ideas. MSM ignore them and so do you. Republicans tried to stop the Neighborhood Reinvestment Act that caused the financial meltdown but were demonized for even suggesting it stop. Republicans have offered ways to prevent Social Security and Medicare from imploding and AGAIN were demonized.

Republicans, Tea Party, Conservatives have never said they want no government. Of course we think there is a need for government. The government’s duties are clearly explained in the Constitution. The government has no authority to tell us how to live.

You think their outrage is tempest in a Tea Pot? Then you are blind. When Obama was elected the Left took off their masks and showed us what they want. They want to end free speech, gun rights, religious freedom, personal responsibility and liberty. They want to end the Constitution that has created the most stable, richest most powerful country in the world for 237 years.

Children are being suspended from school for pointing their finger and saying “Bang”. Parents rights are being taken from them. One mother is being banned from her child’s school for having a concealed carry permit. Are you kidding? We are being told what to eat, what lightbulb to use, what kind of bag we can use at the grocery, what we can and can’t talk about. We are being forced to go against our religious beliefs. Morality is out the window. Christmas is being eliminated from our culture. There isn’t a single American cultural icon that isn’t under attack.

Government is good? Hows the Post Office? Hows the DMV? Hows ObamaCare doing? How’s the War on Drugs? The War on Poverty? (that destroyed the Black family, how lovely). Hows the IRS? How’s the $17 TRILLION debt?

With all your attack against the right, you said nothing that proved socialism works. It doesn’t.
